Please join our Racial Justice Team on Wednesday, May 18th at 7PM for a online presentation of “Racially Charged: America’s Misdemeanor Problem,” a 35 minute film.

Each year, over 13 million misdemeanor cases result in vast numbers of Americans being impoverished through fines and fees, and stripped of drivers’ licenses, jobs, and housing.

The screening and panel discussion will take place on Zoom. The panel discussion will be led by Derrick Hamilton, a formerly incarcerated man who became a jailhouse lawyer and Rebecca Brown, Director of Policy at the Innocence Project. They will provide an overview of why so many innocent people plead guilty to misdemeanors.

We hope you will join us to learn more about this abuse of power rooted in our country’s history of racial injustice.
