If Beale Street Could Talk is a 1974 novel by American author James Baldwin. We’ll discuss the book so we’re prepared to see the forthcoming film adaptation to be directed by Moonlight director Barry Jenkins.The book is a dramatic love story set in Harlem in the early 1970s. It’s title is a reference to the 1916 blues song.
