Fourth Universalist Society

Music has always served as a universal language. Throughout humankind, people have used music to express, emote, and prolong our story. In this session, we discuss informally how this is ever true through music in social justice. Come for a colloquial survey and discussion of the history of “music as social change”, both past and present, and how we can look to music to continue to guide our duty as activists of change into the future. Sean Mayes is the music director for the Fourth Universalist Society.A native of Canada, Sean has served congregations across North America and the United Kingdom as a Director of Music. As a passionate arts & music educator, Sean’s work can be seen in publication through art journals and texts, as well as in presentation at numerous arts and theatre conferences. Sean joined Fourth Universalist in 2017 and his leadership has led to significant growth and energy in the congregation’s music ministry.
